CS2 Sub-Tick Bug Pushes Pros to Stretched Res
CS2 is facing a new problem today. Recently, Valve released three sub-tick updates. However, the last patch on May 14 caused a strange bug. Specifically, players now feel input delays when they stop moving.
Consequently, many pro gamers are changing their video settings. For instance, S1mple switched to 1280×960 on May 16. ZywOo followed him two days later. Therefore, at least eleven top players now use this old view.
Why Does The Tick Glitch Happen?
The new update was supposed to fix timing issues. But it actually created a stutter during sharp turns. Furthermore, your bullets might miss even when you are perfectly still. As a result, many users blame their 1920×1080 monitor settings for the lag.
Stretched resolution seems to hide the problem. First of all, it lowers the pixel count on your screen. Also, this makes your graphics card work less hard. Consequently, frame times become much smoother during fast movements. In other words, the game registers your inputs faster and fixes the stutter.

The Data Shows A Big Change
Back in March, most pros used their normal screen size. By late May, that number dropped to forty-one percent. Moreover, sniper players changed first because they need perfect aim.
Perfecto told reporters he felt much better on 4:3. He said his shots finally go where he aims. Basically, the old style saves them from random misses now.
How To Fix It Now
Do you want to stop the stutter?
- Open your video settings in CS2.
- Change the resolution to 1280×960.
- Select “Stretch” or “Full Screen.”
Obviously, this changes how wide your view looks. But it will likely fix the aim bug today.
Eventually, Valve might drop a new patch in June. Until then, you can try these settings yourself. We also wrote more about recent game updates here: CS2 Cologne 2026: New Shop & Map Fixes
